Samsung BD-C7900 Blu-Ray Player Review

Samsung BD-C7900 Blu-Ray Player Review

Hdmi

The BD-C7900 is one of Samsung's latest 3D Blu-ray Players. At a list price of 9.99 it should be considered their "Top of the Line" model. It replaces the earlier model BD-C6900, which is now listed at 9.99. Very similar in style and features, however the BD-C7900 is equipped with dual HDMI Outputs. This added feature can be very convenient for those wanting to enjoy 3D entertainment at home with the least amount of upgrading to their Home Theater Center.

Samsung has always taken the extra effort to produce uniquely styled Blu-ray Players. The BD-C7900 is no exception. Measuring just 1.6 inches in height, the BD-C7900 3D Blu-ray Player has touch sensitive control buttons located on the front top edge. It has a cool looking see through top where you can see the disc drive. This is illuminated with a blue light, as well as the 3D Blu-ray logo (this can be turned off). The remote is fairly comfortable to hold with easy to use buttons and is non-illuminated.

VIDEO QUALITY: You can connect the BD-C7900 video via the HDMI(ver1.4) Output, Component Video Outputs or the Composite Video Outputs. The best connection would be through the HDMI Output which can support both 1080p/60 and 1080p/24 output resolutions. Making adjustment to the images can be done through three preset picture modes or through a user mode which allows you to adjust sharpness and noise reduction. Samsung has included a features called Screen Fit that automatically converts 21:9 aspect ratio movies to 16:9 aspect. This will get rid of those irritating black bars that crowd the TV screen.

AUDIO QUALITY: You can connect the audio of the BD-C7900 through the HDMI(ver1.4) Output, Digital Optical Audio Output or the Analog Audio Outputs(2.0-ch). Unfortunately, it does not have multichannel analog outputs, therefore those with older A/V receivers without HDMI this player may not appeal to you. It does have internal audio decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. It can also transfer these high-resolution audio formats in their native bitstream form via HDMI, for your A/V receiver to decode. Other audio features include an audio sync (delay) and also the ability to set up DTS Neo:6 Music and Cinema modes for stereo sources.

The main addition to the BD-C7900 Blu-ray Player is the second audio-only HDMI Output. There is a great benefit for having dual HDMI outputs when it comes to 3D viewing. You can use one HDMI connection to transfer the 3D video signal directly to your 3D TV. And then use the other HDMI audio connection to transfer the sound to your A/V receiver. There would be no need to upgrade to a 3D capable A/V receiver.

Besides 3D Blu-ray disc playback, the BD-C7900 supports DVD, CD audio AVCHD, Divx HD, WMA, MP3 and JPEG. It is DLNA certified so you can connect the Blu-ray Player to your Home Network via the Ethernet Port or the built in 802.11n wireless, and stream videos, movies, music and photos directly to your TV screen. The BD-C7900 has 1 GB of internal memory so it makes it easy to download and store BD-Live content, or you can use a USB storage device. The USB port can support music, movies and photo playback as long as the files are either JPEG, MP3, DivX, AVCHD, or MKV files.

If you want to stream online movies the player supports the Samsung Apps platform. This includes access to great online streaming media services such as Hulu Plus, VUDU, Netflix, Blockbuster video-on-demand, YouTube, Pandora, Flickr, Twitter and many more.

THE PROS: The BD-7900 Blu-ray Player from Samsung is very similar to its earlier release, the BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray Player. The main difference between the two Blu-ray Players is that the BD-C7900 has dual HDMI(ver1.4) Outputs. Which means you can send 3D video directly to your 3D HDTV using one HDMI output. Then use the second HDMI Output for your audio signal to your current receiver (Provided it has an HDMI Input). No further upgrading is needed to enjoy the 3D experience with full surround sound. It also has Wi-Fi built-in with 1GB of internal memory, BD-Live Ready, and is DLNA certified. Supports online media services: Internet @ TV /Samsung Apps(provides content from Netflix, Pandora, Vudu, Blockbuster, Picasa and Twitter)

THE CONS: To enjoy 3D at home, you still require a 3D TV and 3D glasses. And of course 3D Blu-ray Content which is scarce at the moment. Does not have multichannel analog outputs, not good for someone with a non-HDMI A/V reviver. Does not have advanced control port like RS-232.

THE FINAL WORD: The Samsung BD-C7900 3D Blu-ray Player provides excellent video and audio quality on both 2D and 3D Blu-ray discs. Has many great features that make up a great Blu-ray Player, such as Online Streaming and DLNA support. It's dual HDMI outputs is a very convenient feature and its value should not be underestimated. It will allow you to enjoy 3D at home with the minimal of upgrading. It has an Ultra Fast feature that should allow to enjoy 2D and 3D Blu-ray movies as quickly as possible. And Samsung's Anynet+ feature allows you to use one remote control to operate your whole 3D home theater. -- Price you should look for when purchasing -- Under 0.00

Fiber Optic Cable Types: Simplex Vs Duplex - Singlemode Vs Multimode

Fiber Optic Cable Types: Simplex Vs Duplex - Singlemode Vs Multimode

Hdmi

When purchasing either a fiber optic HDMI extender or VGA extender, it is important to understand the different varieties of core characteristics that are available within the cabling itself. Each of these different characteristics will have different effects on your ability to transmit information reliably, and these different characteristics also affect how the extender or VGA extender you are looking at will cost. Let's take a look at the most common fiber optics cores used in the industry today.

Simplex

Simplex fiber optic cables consist of just one optic fiber. Their purpose is in one-way signal transfer applications. Analog to digital data readouts, interstate highway sensor relays, and automated speed and boundary sensors (for sports applications) are all great uses of Simplex fiber optic cable. This form of fiber cable can be cheaper than Duplex cables, because less material is involved. Simplex cable is compatible with any HDMI extender.

Duplex

Duplex cable is simply two optic fibers structured in a zipcord arrangement. Zipcord style means the cables run next to each other. Multimode and Singlemode duplex fiber alike are used for two-way data transfers. Larger workstations, switches, servers, and major networking hardware tends to require duplex fiber optic cable. Duplex cables can be more expensive than Simplex cables, and are compatible with any extender.

Singlemode Fiber Optic Cable

Singlemode fiber has a smaller core and just one path for light to travel down. Since there is only one wavelength of light moving through the core, single mode light aligns at the center of the optic core rather than bouncing about the interior of the core, which is the technology that enables Multimode cable to carry multiple light signals. Singlemode cables might be used in conjunction with a long range extender, or perhaps a few extenders, to move fiber optic signal over multiple miles. Singlemode fiber tends to have a glass core at 9-micron, and is compatible with either a one-way or two-way extender or VGA extender.

Dualmode Fiber Optic Cable

Dualmode fiber is a large diameter fiber core. Due to its relatively large size, multiple channels of light can be transmitted, allowing multiple bandwidths and signals to be transmitted simultaneously. Dualmode works great for most fiber applications. It works especially well in alarm systems, audio/video systems and production, desktops and laptops, and display systems. Dualmode fiber cable is both HDMI extender and VGA extender compatible.

Cable Thicknesses

Optic fire cable thickness can change depending on if your application calls for an HDMI extender, VGA extender, or both. The average HDMI extender will typically be used in conjunction with a 50 micron cable as opposed to a 62.5 micro cable. The reason an HDMI extender is used with 50 micron cable is because it has three times the bandwidth as compared to a 62.5 micron cable. Thus since an HDMI extender is typically used with two-way HDMI communications, you will rarely see an HDMI extender in use with a 62.5 micron cable.

LG BX580 Blu-Ray Player Review

LG's first 3D Blu-ray player, the BX580 is a very reasonable price range of $ 399.99. Adequate coverage of the BX580 3D Full HD Blu-ray capabilities, have access to online content Netcast entertainment streaming, integrated high-speed 802.11n Wi-Fi, DLNA-compatible with the flow of data from the computer, able to live and BD, of course, play Blu-ray and regular DVD discs.

Since only 8 inches deep and 1.7 cm in height, the BX580 is a very elegant design andrequire a large amount of disk space. Going for a minimalist design of the front flap down to reveal the controls, the LCD display, the DVD tray and a USB port. Many consider the flip-down panel from a design flaw. The BX580 has no internal memory. Therefore, it is a USB drive for BD-Live downloadable content. As soon as a USB drive is inserted, you can not make the units more. Some find this to be uncomfortable, and ruin the appearance of disorderPlayers.

Hdmi

Video quality: In addition to 3D Blu-ray, the BX580 can still play Blu-ray and DVD discs. Video connections are on the back. This includes an HDMI 1.4, composite and component outputs. HDMI will give you the best playback quality. And 'the latest HDMI 1.4, but it is a 1.3 HDMI cable is needed for 3D rendering. No need to go to the office, a new HDMI 1.4.

Sound Quality: audio connection can1.4 output via HDMI digital audio outputs (coaxial, optical) and 2.0-channel analog outputs. The BDX580 is internal to decode linear PCM audio, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS. Unfortunately, there is a multi-channel 7.1 analogue outputs. A / V receiver with an HDMI input is needed to ensure high-resolution surround sound, which can be found on Blu-ray decode.

The BX580 LG is packed with interesting features. As I said, is the first LGBlu-ray with Full HD 3D capabilities. He also installed a high-speed Ethernet port and 802.11n Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet. The BX580 includes LG Netcast Entertainment Access, online streaming media services like Netflix, Vudu HD, YouTube, Picasa, AccuWeather and more.

Another great feature is that the BX580 DLNA-compatible. You can connect your Blu-ray to your home network and streaming video, music and photos from a computer or USBDevice and displays them on your TV. The following are the files and formats:

Music: MP3, WMA, WAV
Photo: JPEG, PNG
Video: Standard Definition (MPEG-1/2/4, DivX) and HD (MKV, H.264, DivX HD)

The bundled Nero MediaHome 4 BX580 is an essential software. This allows the player to act as a media server. For example, instead of simple CD track numbers, which can BX580 album covers, artist names and entertainmentthe titles of the songs will be downloaded automatically from the Internet. Made so by Gracenote, not the entire process takes less than a few seconds when the CD is inserted. You'll also be able to rip CDs directly onto an external USB storage device like a USB stick or MP3 player. Tracks can be in MP3 format with 128kbps, 192kbps, 320 kps lossless data compression or encoding with ID3 metadata.

Pros: The LG BX580 is full HD 1080p playback of Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3DDisk. It 'the first 3D Blu-ray player from LG. It has internal audio decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. It 'compatible with DLNA and has integrated Wi-Fi. Have access to online streaming media services.

Disadvantages: No multi-channel analog audio outputs. It would not be the best option for someone with an older non-HDMI audio / video receiver. No internal memory. A USB storage device must be able to access BD-Live content.

The Last Word: The BX580 is a 3D firstenabled Blu-ray player from LG. And 'rich in features, including built-in Wi-Fi, streaming online, you can rip CDs to an external hard drive and is compatible DLNA. It seems almost every possible feature and function that will require a great Blu-ray. - You should pay the purchase price - $ 399.99
