Asus Eee Pad Tablet Vs iPad

Asus Eee Pad Tablet Vs iPad

Hdmi

One of the newest tablets to hit the market is the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, which is a state-of-the-art tablet PC with a unique feature-it can be transformed into a laptop when attached to a keyboard dock. Perhaps this is where Asus scores a point. The original iPad is no longer in production, as it has been discontinued after the release of the even more famous iPad 2.

Truth be told, many consumers still cling to the first ever iPad, a proud remembrance of owning such a popular gadget that many other people do not have. If the first iPad had to be compared with ASUS, how would it fair?

Software

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer recently updated its OS to the Honeycomb 3.2, which is the latest from the Android platform. The iPad had iOS version 4.3.5, which is basically the same system running the iPad 2.

Processor

The ASUS Transformer has an amazing 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, which makes the gadget quite fast to use. The iPad has a 1GHz Apple A4, which is definitely not bad either.

Memory/ Storage

The ASUS Transformer has 1GB worth of RAM, with an internal storage of up to 16 GB or 32GB. It also houses a micro SD card slot to increase the memory storage. The iPad, on the other hand, has a lesser RAM with only 256MB, but the internal storage is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Display

The ASUS Transformer has 1280 x 800 pixels of resolution in its clear 10.1-inch multi-touch screen with a brilliant IPS panel display. The iPad has a 9.7-inch screen with 1024 x 768 pixels of resolution on a multi-touch and LED-backlit IPS LCD screen display.

Camera

The ASUS Transformer has a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front and a 5-megapixel camera on the rear. The iPad, unfortunately, does not have a single camera.

Connectivity

The ASUS Transformer has GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, with a mini HDMI port and two USB ports on the keyboard dock. The iPad also has Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity, but it does not have HDMI or USB ports. However, separate USB adapters can be purchased.

Video Recording

The ASUS Transformer has an impressive 720 HD video recording capability, making videos very clear to view. The iPad, on the other hand, makes it impossible to record any videos with.

Portability

The ASUS Transformer has a measurement of 271 x 171 x 13mm and weighs 680 grams.

The iPad has dimensions of 42.8 x 189.7 x 13.4mm and weighed 680 grams for Wi-Fi connectivity only, and 730 grams for both Wi-Fi + 3G connectivity.

Battery Life

The ASUS Transformer has a battery life of up to 10 hours, but with a keyboard dock attached, battery life is increased up to 16 hours. The iPad only has 10 hours battery life.

Price

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is sold at 9 for the 16GB. The optional keyboard dock costs an additional 0. The iPad had a retail price of 9 for the Wi-Fi only version, and 9 for Wi-Fi + 3G version, which is a far cry from other tablet PCs of today.

The Verdict

Clearly, it shows that the original iPad is no match with the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. In many aspects like camera, connectivity, portability, battery life and most especially price, Asus has managed to beat Apple from its former glory.
